10 Things you didn’t know were horrible for your skin!

A woman of today knows that taking care of your skin is vital. We cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize and get the oh-so-important facial. But there are a few things that could be wrecking havoc on your skin and you may not even realize it.

#1) Sleeping with your make-up on

Yours truly used to be a big offender of this. If you’ve ever forgotten after a long day you probably know the results the next morning. Falling asleep with your make-up can clog your pores, and can lead to bacterial infections and acne. If you really can’t seem to remember, try and keep your make-up remover wipes by your bed.

#2) Squinting your eyes

If you constantly forget your sunglasses, think your contact/glasses prescription needs to be updated, then now’s the time! Eye protection and the proper lens can help prevent fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage. Are you calling your eye doctor yet?

#3) your pillow case is dirty

How often do you change your pillow case? If you can’t remember then it’s been too long. Especially if you’re an offender of #1. If you don’t change your pillowcase regularly the skin you shed at night can build up causing clogged pores and a build up of bacteria. We recommend changing your pillowcase at least once a week.

#4) Too much chlorine

it’s a big one in the summer. Hanging in the pool is great but can dehydrate your skin. Even after a shower, chlorine can still adhere to your skin. Make sure when you shower after that pool that really give yourself a good scrub.

#5) Too Much Sodium

Too much sodium can leave your skin dry and lackluster. Cut back on those salty sweets and remember to hydrate.

#6) Not enough water

It’s the BEST thing you can do for your skin. Especially if you have an excess of sodium, not enough water can leave your skin dull and dry. Hydrate people!

#7) Long, hot showers.

This one is tough, because most off love the relief a long, hot shower can bring. While it can be great, it can also strip the epidermis of it’s outer layer. To avoid dry and scaly skin, try to limit your time in the steamy shower. you can always switch it to a colder setting at the end of your shower. This will help your pores close after the heat opens them (It’s also great for your hair!)

#8) Talking on the phone

think about how often you use your phone. Now think about how often you clean it. If you notice a breakout around your jaw line it may be because of your phone. Clean it. and often.

#9)wearing dirty sunglasses

Just like your phone, this frequently used eye wear can can be neglected. A build up of bacteria can lead to breakouts on the bridge of your nose and clog your pores.

#10) Skipping Meals

This one may seem surprising, but if your not in taking enough fluid and getting the proper nourishment, your skin may pay the price. Try to include some vitamin C and vitamin E to your routine.
